Biktrix, a Canadian e-bike company established in 2014, has successfully launched its newest model, the Juggernaut HD Duo, on Indiegogo, surpassing its funding target of $30,000. The bike has begun distribution to its supporters, and they had the opportunity to evaluate an early version of the $3,399 Juggernaut HD Duo, which proved to be an enjoyable experience. The tested version was equipped with dual 52-volt, 17.5-Ah batteries, adding an extra 20 pounds to the bike’s substantial 83-pound frame for a total of 103 pounds. This weight could be challenging for those residing in buildings without elevators. An alternative configuration with two 39-Ah batteries is available for extended range. The batteries are detachable, with one built into the frame and the other positioned atop the downtube, and come with chargers that can fully replenish them in 6 to 8 hours, whether attached to the bike or not. The bike can operate using both batteries simultaneously or solely the integrated one. The wiring is neatly routed through the frame, with protective padding at the exit points.

The bike’s 26-inch wheels give it the feel of a monster truck, and its front suspension effectively softens the impact of New York City’s rough streets. Standard equipment includes front and rear fenders, and they are eager to test its performance in snow, as well as its capability to traverse sandy beaches. The off-road version they tested had no speed restrictions, allowing it to reach speeds of up to 35 mph (56 kph), while the street version complies with local traffic laws. They achieved a speed of 32 mph, which is impressive given their body size and the lack of aerodynamic design. Their driving mood influenced the bike’s range; although not requiring daily charging, their penchant for speed could reduce the range by 30% to 40%. The bike’s estimated range exceeds 100 miles, varying with the rider’s weight, terrain, and the level of assistance and throttle used. They enjoy pedaling but appreciate the boost from the assistance, especially when sharing the road with automobiles and needing to move quickly. Typically, they ride with the pedal assistance set between 2 and 3, increasing it to level 5 when vehicles get too close.

With a maximum load capacity of 380 pounds and a rear rack that can hold up to 50 pounds, the Juggernaut HD Duo conveys a sense of strength and power, accentuated by the sound of the off-road tires on concrete. This mid-drive e-bike is powered by a 1,000-watt BBSHD Bafang motor and features a 10-speed Shimano cassette. Riders can pedal with or without assistance or use the thumb throttle for motor-powered movement. There are Eco and Sport modes available, as well as five levels of assistance. Shifting gears is a manual process akin to driving a manual transmission vehicle without a clutch. The bike is fitted with dual 180mm disc hydraulic brakes for quick stopping, including a rear brake light that activates upon braking, independent of the headlight status.

The Juggernaut features a DPC-18 full-color display, approximately 4 inches in size, offering clear visibility at any time of the day. It displays current speed, battery status, mode (Eco or Sport), assistance level, time, trip odometer, and total distance traveled. Additionally, there’s a USB-A port available for charging mobile devices.

Finally, customers can order the Juggernaut HD Duo in a selection of four colors: blue, black, camo, and reptilian.
